I met Ed Kressy in my Hollywood Squares AA Zoom Meeting about 8 months ago. I just recently found out that his grandfather was Ed Kressy the comic book illustrator of The Lone Ranger and BATMAN?!? His art was used for intro to the BATMAN TV show we all love and grew up with. I have always loved drawing and dreamed to be a comic book artist as a kid. I grew up admiring Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein who both took comic book panels and repurposed them and got famous for it. Ed told me that his grandfather wasn’t considered a real artist according to the times and didn’t keep any of his original ink drawings. That’s a shame and makes me think not everyone is an artist but everyone is a critic? Ed sent me the BATMAN cover and I surprised him by remixing it with visuals off Instagram REELS to make his grandfather’s Bat Man comic book cover “pop” and added the intro song. It’s really cool to meet scion of an artist who is a writer and advocate of sobriety. I grew up watching Batman and history is kinder to men like Tesla and artist like Van Gogh and Ed Kressy. You may have not achieved the respect in your lifetime Ed Kressy Sr you deserved from the art critics but I think your name and art is immortal now. You live in the pantheon of art history now.
