I visited my childhood home this winter. The walls were painted over in a different colour. The clothes that were clipped onto the wires on the roof weren’t ours. But the railing of the staircase that leads to the terrace cast a lovely shadow on the wall that has stayed with me over all these years. Everyday for the past twenty years the shadow returned to the same spot and I got to meet it again on this specific afternoon.
