Thought for the day

How should we sanctify our lives and keep our minds pure? Bhagavan lovingly explains, guides and encourages us today.
Today man is under the rule of egoism. Insatiable desires fill his entire being. The number of such people is growing limitlessly. How can they achieve something great in life? Their daily life consists of reading newspapers, watching video programs and listening to the radio. Their attachment to class, religion and local interests is constantly growing. Modern man must learn to lead a life inspired by silam and tyaga (morality and sacrifice). Relations between people today are governed by friendship or enmity. The cause of both these feelings is the mind. Hatred is generated by thoughts. Such was the hatred of Ravana for Rama, of Shishupala and Dhantavakra for Krishna, and of the Kauravas for Dharmaja, who was “ajatashatru” – incapable of hating anyone. Don’t worry about other people’s hostility towards you. Develop a friendly attitude towards everyone. Do not pay attention to the insults of others, because they only serve to reduce your karma and transfer it to your critic.
When a person praises another, the merits of the latter are transferred to the former. Consider the critic your friend, not someone who flatters you.

To prevent hostility from overpowering you, you must walk the path from unity to purity and from purity to divinity.
