Swipe to see what being in a financial crisis taught me about my personal finances…
1.) Prioritizing Needs Over Wants- Even though I know in the back of my mind I should prioritize needs over wants, I haven’t been doing so. These past few months, I found it hard not to buy from an impulse decision. I bought a candle from target 2 weeks ago and I already have plenty of candles in my home ? Just imagine if all of the impulse decisions I made these past few months were transferred into income that could have been saved.
2.) Letting go of the “You Only Live Once” mentality- in just a few days I will be taking a 3-day trip to Puerto Rico ?? Although I’m excited, this trip has cost me anywhere from $1200+. Yes, we should make time to travel the world, but I feel like there is a right time for everything!
3.) Even when I think I have it altogether, I don’t. A few months ago, I considered myself as someone who was responsible with my money, budgeted all the time, saved when possible and even invested some of the money that was left over. I think I got comfortable feeling I had it all under control until I no longer did. ?
There are lessons I’m learning in my current situation. If you are also not in the best place financially, I encourage you to reevaluate some of your actions. Are you overspending? Not saving? Not budgeting? Not willing to sacrifice fun for financial freedom? ?
No matter the case, stay optimistic and take the necessary steps to turn your situation around ?
